Every year several thousand vehicles pass their MOT here at Eden Tyres & Servicing.

Our MOT testers are specially selected for their knowledge, experience and fair attitude to vehicle testing ensuring you the highest standards possible. Not only are we regulated and audited by DVSA the governing body but we also choose to have our testing facilities double checked by an independent 3rd party.

If your vehicle unfortunately fails the MOT test, then we can carry our most MOT repairs onsite. If you would like us to, we can give you a quote for repairs on the day of the test and a good idea of how long the repairs and retest are likely to take. The majority of vehicles that fail their MOT test can be repaired and retested on the same day. If you would rather carry out the repairs yourself or get your vehicle repaired elsewhere, then we can still retest your vehicle free of charge, as long as this is within 10 working days of the original test.

Can I wait whilst my MOT test is carried out?

Yes. Most MOT tests take around 45 mins and you are more than welcome to wait in our reception area whilst we carry out the test.  If your vehicle needs MOT repairs then these could take significantly longer in which case you may decide to leave the vehicle with us.

What parts of the vehicle are checked in an MOT test?

An MOT test is really a basic test to check that all the necessary components of your vehicle are sound to ensure that your vehicle is safe to be on the road.  Find out exactly what is checked here.

If my vehicle fails, will I have to pay for a re-test?

No. Provided your vehicle is retested within 10 working days of the original test then there is no fee for the partial retest.  This applies whether we carry out the repair work or you get it done elsewhere and just bring it back to us for the retest, our retest is always free.  If you bring the vehicle back after 10 working days, then we aren't able to carry out a partial retest and have to conduct another full MOT test, in this case then a full MOT fee will apply.

Can you remind me when my MOT is due?

Yes. Ask your local branch to set up a FREE text, phone or email reminder for you so you won't have to worry about forgetting your test next year.

I've lost my MOT certificate.  Is it possible to get a copy?

Yes. We can reprint your MOT certificate for a small fee of £10 providing you bring your vehicle log book (V5) with you.

My MOT has expired, can I still drive my car?

No. It is illegal to drive a car once your MOT has expired.  The only exception to this is if you are driving your vehicle to a pre-booked test at an MOT testing station. You cannot park your vehicle on the public highway once you MOT certificate has expired if you do you could be liable for a fine

Don't I get a few days grace?

There are no days grace anymore. It has to be completed on or before the date on the MOT
