Staff Focus | Adam Blackburn

We spoke to Adam, our Wholesale Manager about his experience working with us here at ETS. Here is what he had to say:

What is your job role?

AB: I’m the wholesale manager here at ETS.

How long have you worked for ETS?

AB: 17 years. It’s only my 2nd full-time job.

How many years have you worked in the automotive industry?

AB: 17 years.

What is your favourite part of your role?

AB: Without doubt the best part of my job is talking to my customer base. Every time I take a call I get to find out people’s interests, what they’re doing that night or weekend and who they’re doing it with, how good or bad their football team have done or how they’re coping with lockdown, and I would genuinely call most of them my mates. The job would be dull without them.

What challenges have you faced with the COVID-19 pandemic?

AB: Firstly, it’s been really tough for everyone. As we are classed as essential services we have remained open throughout all three lockdown periods but by and large the staff here have all been really understanding about the whole thing and have reacted really well to whatever has been thrown at them. Probably the biggest challenge professionally was having to stay on top of staff PPE, and the biggest challenge for me personally has been not having things to do at night, but hopefully we’re on the way out of lockdown now and I’m really looking forward to things being lifted.

Why did you choose to work for ETS?

AB: To be honest my brother worked for the company and he got me the job. When I first started it was just a job to try and get me some money so I could go out with my mates but now I’m a bit older, my priorities have changed and I actually enjoy work! Sad, I know.

What is the best thing about working for the company?

AB: I think everyone will say the same, but the people I work with day-to-day are incredible. The two directors are the most approachable people you could ask for. Despite their merits, unfortunately they’re both Derby fans and as I’m a Forest fan, twice a season we will have a bet and give each other a bit of grief, which I don’t think you’d be able to do at most other companies. The staff I work with in the office are all peas in the same pod. It’s great knowing that everyone I work with has the same twisted sense of humour as I do!

What are your likes and dislikes?

AB: My likes are golf, football, cinema, meeting my mates and date nights with my fiancé and my dislikes would definitely have to be Lockdown!
