Class 7 MOT testing is for light commercial vehicles which weigh between 3,000 kg & 3,500 kg. The test is very similar to a standard car MOT (Class 4) however it does include additional checks of the tyres (to check they’re suitable for the extra load) and a brake efficiency test.

Vehicles such as Mercedes Sprinters and Ford Transits fall into the Class 7 category. If you’re not sure how heavy your van is you should be able to check in the vehicle handbook or on the V5C.

MOT testers need to take additional qualifications to carry out class 7 tests. In addition to this, our MOT testing facilities have to be suitable for larger, heavier vehicles. We do however have a number of branches that are able to provide class 7 mot testing on site. Tests generally take around 45 mins – 1 hour  and hourly appointments are available to book both online or by calling your local branch.
